This is the sixth service on this trip and I must say they have all been done very professionally. Some dealers have larger shops and more guys working but in general everyone that has worked on the bike has done a great job. This time it was 80,000 km. I have to wonder how many 2009 BMW's have that on the clock?

The best place to get your BMW serviced in Melbourne
This service was a big one and I was pleased to have such a reputable shop do the work. As usual I had all the lubes changed and the brakes and valves checked the other things that got looked at where the alternator belt which needed replacing as that had perished in places and also had a hole in it. The discs where checked and though they are well worn it was decided that I could wait until I get home and replace them there as things would more than likely be cheaper there. New plugs were a must and the air filter was washed and reinstalled. The battery was put under test and given a clean bill of health so that was good as there have been problems with them on other models but as I have already had a new one under warranty I kind of figured that it should be OK. The horn had never worked properly since leaving India so they found a used one and replaced that for me. |

Checking the bike out after the service |
So the bike was ready to go and the only thing I really needed was a new head light glass as it had gotten a rather large hole in it riding across the Nullarbor, but when I found out the cost of that here in Aus is $850.00 + and as it was cheaper in Canada it could wait also, I would just have to stick a piece of tape over the hole to keep the rain out (I knew I should have bought the headlight protector before leaving home from Touratech)
My Tires were OK as I had just replaced the rear one but the front would need to be replaced in another 3,000 km and the way the back one is performing I might change that also.
