We only stayed one night in Rhodes as the ferry to Turkey dose not go every day in the winter, we were also told sometimes it dose not go at all!! So leaving the Islands of Greece behind we both felt we could have spent more time here especially if the weather had been better.
We purchased our tickets from the travel agent in town $107 euro for us and the bike then we had to pay$39 euro for the port taxes when we left.
The boat left at 1400 hrs and we got there one hour before departure, well after traveling on the Greek ferries when I saw the boat we were going on I was quite surprised but the more I travel the more I like to be surprised.
We loaded on a ramp that barley made it to the concrete then I proceeded to supervise the tie down of the bike, fifteen minutes later I was happy that the bike would not go anywhere.
Well the trip was fun the boat rolled from side to side as the wind picked up, I would estimate at least 40 knots with a 12ft to 15 ft swell. Yes there was puking again from some of the other passengers but it was great to stand on deck and be on the ocean again. I guess I miss the sail boat.
We arrived after two and a half hours just before dark and had to do customs. This was not a problem until we needed to do the papers for the bike. All over Europe they have separate papers for insurance and registration so they were confused when I pulled out just a slip of paper for my Bike registration that all explained then the computers went down so we waited till 6 pm for them to come on line again then we were allowed to leave. All in all a very helpful and understanding boarder crossing.
Welcome to Turkey
