OK!! so we will all stay out of the water |
Quite a lot of 4X4 's go to Fraser Island it is a real destination with the Back Packers |
As the sun rises we are all loaded onto a barge (the local ferry) for our 30 min trip to the Island |
The water in Lake Mackenzie is clear, cold and very silky on the feet |
It is a beautiful place before the crowds arrive. |
Remember the croc sign? well there is no way she is going in!! |
These 4X4 busses were great with the long wheel base they would go anywhere our driver was crazy and went really fast thru the sand but he was a great driver. |
Elli creek |
The 4x4 UTE is a real Aussy thing and on the 75 mile beach must be a lot of fun I thought for a minute about bringing the bike but she dosnt like the sand! |
The rusting hull of the shipwrecked Maheno made for some great photo's. |
Stuck in the sand since 1935 |
Then there are the Famous Dingos of Fraser Island |
Don't be fooled they do attack the tourists from time to time, there are signs that read, "if you feed the Dingos you are as much as sentencing them to death" |
A three-year-old girl was lucky to have escaped with only bite wounds when attacked by two dingoes on Fraser Island, says one of her rescuers.
Believe it or not the Mother and Grandmother let the three year old go into the bush on her own to go to the bathroom. Unfortunately the Dingos were caught and destroyed.
The sun goes down as we are barged back to the mainland, we had had a long day but a great day out! |
