Catching up to Ronnie at the Pakse Hotel in Laos |
After reading one of Ronnie's recent posts he decided to change course a bit and his pace so we found ourselves catching up with him in Pakse, a town in Laos close to the Cambodian border, we had both planned to head for Cambodia so decided to ride once again together.
There is nothing quite like meeting up with another GS rider, its hard to explain, but when you have been on your own riding for so long and then another fellow `GS`` rider enters your day it gives you goosebumps and puts a huge smile on your face. The truth is we all have the same passion and dream to explore and experience the world on two wheels, how lucky are we and we know it!
He got there days before us and booked us a room at the same hotel, it was a long ride that day from Vientiane to Pakse, now in Southern Laos which is kind of boring landscape but better roads, we did over 600km that day arriving at the hotel around 5:30pm.
It was so great to see him again, just like meeting an old friend you have known for years and here we had only previously spent 2 days together in Palmyra, it brought back memories of us three sitting one night at a local joint having dinner, getting to know each other and I remember then thinking to myself as I was watching these two guys talking about `living their dream`` that we would be friends for life. We headed out for drinks and dinner and never stopped talking, you can imagine we had a lot to catch up on over the last 4 months, so many stories and experiences.

I have to tell you that these guys are pretty connected to these bikes emotionally, after all it is what carries them along on their dream and without the bike it wouldnt be the same, and I have to say that I understand how they feel, the best part of my day is loading up the bike and slinging my leg over and starting another days ride, never knowing where you`ll stop or what you`ll see or who you will meet, thats the adventure, these bikes are like good friends carrying you on your journey..I want to tell you that being out here in the world like we are is a gift, how we managed to pull it off I dont know but we dont take it for granted we know how lucky we are.
