Getting to Perth

One last drink with a very good friend

Our last day in KL before flying to Aus consisted of catching up on blogging while waiting for Ronnie to finish the crating of his bike.

We waited around till 6is when he showed up with Ms Yep our shipper and she took us all out for dinner, she is a lovely person who is very good at her job and did a great job shipping both our bikes, she made it so simple!  She dropped us back to our hotel and we went across the road for one last goodbye drink with Ronnie, a couple of scotches for the road to celebrate our 5 weeks riding together.

We had said goodbye to Ronnie many times but this time we were flying out to Aus in a few hours so we knew it would be for sure, I think we had all got used to the idea by now, i have to say it has been a blast riding with him, Trev and him are very much alike in so many ways and I loved to tease him as he did me so it was easy to have him around, Trev and him kept each other entertained and that gave me some time to catch up on my reading, it was fun to have another GS in our mirrors!

The funniest part of the trip while with him was the girly bars in Pattaya and Phnom Phen, hanging out with guys in girly bars has never been my thing, ok i didn’t have to go in one but almost was close enough, Ronnie suggested “a Ping Pong show” I don’t think so!  In truth I had to hold their hands as the girls terrified them both, the fact that they couldn’t figure out which was girls or guys really freaked them out, I had a lot of laughs about that, I enjoyed watching them squirm as they were approached, looking back for me to “protect them”!!  Then there was the shopping trip where I took them both shopping for “new underwear”, pretty funny, and then when we took Ronnie to get his ear pierced, he hates needles,  another time he had Phil climb on the back of his bike for a ride and he said it felt like the Eiffel Tower behind him, there was the time when he shaved all his beard off one morning and I could'nt figure out why he looked different, I thought he got a bee sting as his faced looked swollen, we gave him such a hard time about that, he was always a good sport, we just laughed and laughed, thanks Ronnie for all the great memories!  Not to mention the things we still dont know about that you and Phil got up to that night in KL.

I figure we must have all spent time together in another life cause we were so comfortable with each other, how weird is it that he is from South Africa and we are from Canada so far away from each other and we met in Syria on our GS’s and then again in Laos 4 months later and end up spending over 5 weeks together, isn’t biking great!

We've left Ronnie hanging out in Bali for a few weeks to catch up on his blog, which none of us were able to tend to while we were together, cause we were just having too much fun.   Ronnie will be another year and half on the road heading to Aus and then South America, finishing his trip in Canada at our place, where Im sure he will need me to take him shopping again for some new underwear!!  Ronnies plan is to do 100 countries and be out for 3 years, check out his blog as he is a very funny writer,  you will enjoy it! and  we are in lots of his pictures too.  www.ronnieborr.com/blog/

A very cheap way to get to Perth
Air Asia tickets for $235.00 US each, our buddy Roy booked them for us, gotta love having an online travel agent it makes things so much easier for us.
Don't we look chipper seeing as it is
close to Midnight
No frills on this flight, you pay for everything but hey its midnight and we arrive at 5am so we were sleeping most of the way anyhow.
Another country another day

5.30 am - I need a coffee pricey coffee and muffin $8.50

The Swan Barracks Hostel
Not the best place to stay in Perth if you are
 over 30 years old
We couldnt check in here till 4pm and we arrived at 9am, we hadnt slept a wink on the plane so we found a couple of chairs and tried to sleep, forget it, this is a stinky, noisy hostel.  We gave that idea in and went for a walk into the city instead, yikes its cold here, wheres my toque and mits!
