Day one INDIA

We arrived at the Hotel Host Inn at about 5.30 am went straight to the room and crashed for four hours.   The time change here is GMT+5.30 so that puts us three and a half hours ahead of Jordan  and thirteen and a half hours ahead of Vancouver so if you want to know what is going to happen later on today give me a call!!

Our first breakfast at the Hotel Host Inn
No I couldn't drink the coffee

We were forced awake by chirpy,  my trusty alarm clock in the I phone, too late for breakfast down stairs so we had it sent to the room,  well after seeing it we should have told them not to bother the coffee was made with condensed milk and came with a lovely skin on it, the bread and jam sandwich was not that good looking either so we gave it a miss and grabbed a cab into town to meet Aubry from J P International to deal with the bike.
The Traffic as seen from our room window
The traffic here is, well should I say heavy. We have been told about so many places where the traffic will be hell, Cairo was one, India was the other. Well we haven't ridden in it yet but it doesn't look any worse than Cairo and I think Naples is the worst I have seen yet. We will see when we get the bike back, basically the rule of thumb is, never look behind you..

A ride in one of the many Black and Yellow taxis
Can you tell we have only had 4 hours sleep.
A ride in a Black and yellow taxi into Mumbai. The trip took about one and a half hours and cost
500 Rps thats about $11.00 can. Interesting to note not many of the taxis have mirrors and if they do they are broken. Here we have the six cars in three lanes thing going on and no need to indicate just HONK. It is interesting to know that there are approximately 55,000 Black and Yellow Taxis in Mumbai and about the same number of Tut Tuts. The Tut Tuts are not allowed in the down town core
Well they do have good intention
Riding through the city in a taxi gives me time to look at the surroundings. The garbage problem is here all around and there are slums right in the center of town, we see people here that have not had a wash in months, little kids too, I just cant imaging taking a walk through one of these slums, its nothing to see a 6month old baby crawling thru the streets, no diaper, seemed quite happy!! filthy though. People really are literally living on the sidewalks,  I think the only reason we arent in shock is because of what we have already seen on our travels so far.
