Back to Thailand

After four nights in Siem Reap  visiting the ruins of Angkor Wat and the floating Villages (slums) we decide to leave Morgan and his family doing further charity work and head back to Thailand. We had talked with Ronnie and decided on a route using the more remote border but hopefully giving us a shorter ride to Pattaya in Thailand. It was about a 516 km ride so we were up early and loaded by 7am, just as we were ready to set off the clouds opened and it started to pour down. Now I mean one of those tropical rains where it is coming up at you as fast as it is coming down on you as it bounces off the road!! Already loaded and no turning back we put our liners in and headed out into the wet. It rained off and on for most of the day but it was ok. Now having ridden over 50,000 km we just take it as it comes I guess that makes us HARD CORE now. It was funny to see others trying to wait out the hail before loading onto a bus that was parked 30 meters away from the door as we just headed out.

We leave the bikes and wonder around looking for guys with the
correct stamps for our Carnet
The road to the border was OK for the most part but the last 50 km was under repair and waiting for blacktop. The hard packed gravel was turning into a wet mess as we slipped along at 50km/h, Ronnie having a hell of a hard time on his worn out tires.

At the border we wondered if we had made the correct decision as when we showed them our Carnet's nobody knew what to do, they were on the phone to this guy and that until we took charge and told them where to stamp us out and what to fill in for us.

Now out of Cambodia and  back to Thailand again, what a  joke we got the bikes stamped in for 30 days but could only get us in for 15 days. Oh well that means we will have to get visa extensions.

This time in the rain

Because of the time at the border we didn't get into Pattaya until dark but as Ronnie had been there before and knew the area it wasn't long before we found a place to stay got checked in and were out walking the streets looking at the sights and what sights they were, once again staying in the "sex for sale" district!
