Back to Bangkok to pick up Phil

I love to park in the lobby
It has been nearly eleven months since we have seen any body we know from back home so having Phil fly in was a great treat for both him and us.

A great place to stay right by the
 Bart train into town
We left Ronnie to catch up on some of his blogging at the water huts and headed into Bangkok again to meet Phil and have a couple of days with him in the BIG city.

The shopping in Thailand was BIG
(glad we are on the bike)
If there is one thing the Thai People can do it is SHOP I don't think I have seen so many small shops in such a big mall as in Thailand and it was busy with people spending money.
I don't know what this roo was doing here??

The Democracy Monument roundabout in Bangkok
While waiting for Phil to arrive we took a ride into town in a Tuk Tuk to look around again but this time it was New Year for the Thai People and the Songkran Festival was in full swing. Basically it is a water festival where every one gets wet I think it is lucky to have water thrown over you, something like being blessed but they really go to town with it. It is actually the most dangerous festival of the year as many accidents are caused by drunk driving and people getting run over or falling of the scooters racing around with huge water pistols soaking every one in sight. Well after two hours in town and our selfs getting wet to the core we decide to return to the Hotel and take a swim.

Happy New year

On the streets for Songkran The water festival
No one gets out dry

And if you are very lucky you get white paint on you too
Now I have to ask
 Has he been missed??
Phil got in from the Airport at about 1 am and we were down in the lobby waiting for him, We had emailed him the location of our hotel and told him to grab a cab from the airport which he did. It is quite different traveling with the bike as there is no room for any one else and he was going to have to find hi own way to the places we wanted to go see But he is a big lad now and we don't have to worry about him!!
Just hanging out in Bangkok
Its 35 c in the shade!!

More Shopping!!
We took him for a quick tour of the city and organised his Train ticket to the next location about 350 km down the coast where we would meet Ronnie again.
Yes it is a very safe and clean city
All in all we are very impressed with Bangkok. It is a clean and modern city with an excellent transportation system and best of all the drivers are very courteous to motorcycles.
We were all very impressed with Bangkok
