Wheel 2 Wheel

Morgan with his GS800
This guy is doing some serious DIRT

As we rode into the Paske Hotel to meet up with Ronnie we noticed yet another, very muddy, GS800 parked in the parking lot, this is most unusual as in the 11 months we have been out we have seen very few GS's about!

It turns out that this guy, Morgan Parker is riding through 10 countries in 4 months, to raise awareness and money for 10 charities already in existence throughout Asia and Australia!  The entire trip is privately funded by Morgan himself as he wants everything that is raised to be put back into the respective charities.

It was a dream of his in 2005 to jump on a bike and ride "the long way home" to Brisbane, being an Australian but having worked in Hong Kong for several years, what started out as a personal passion for riding led him to add to the itinerary a very committed serious helping hand!  This is a huge commitment for one guy, between filming his daily events, blogging on the days ride, photographing and logging all the charity events, never mind the actual riding, its a lot of work, I hope that he manages to raise the awareness that is so desperately needed in these parts of the world.  Having ridden in similar areas to Morgan on our trip, these countries are so poor they certainly need some help.

I truly admire this guy, to meet him is a breath of fresh air, bright eyed, big smile and lots of positive energy, a guy who really has mastered the art of  "if you dream it, you can do it."  I am sure that these charities will be changed forever for having Morgan dream this dream!

What I really like about the charities he is supporting is they are from all walks of life, from human rights of women and children, HIV victims and awareness,  to animal rights to the environment, a broad spectrum.

 Laos into Cambodia

It makes you think about your own passions, when you see someone following theirs and making a difference at the same time.  Ive realized my passion is raising awareness of our own consciousness.

The way women are treated and treat themselves in these countries is just awful, I dont blame them or the men, its the conditioning from generations of suppression especially from the cultures of the Middle Eastern countries and Asia, women have allowed themselves to be suppressed and have believed in the "cultural" conditioning for long enough, I really think that its this awareness that we are now starting to see surfacing and causing all this upheaval in these Middle Eastern countries.  I believe its not that there will be a "feminine" revolution or that its even required its just time for equal rights for all human beings and I have faith and believe that women will find a way to make this happen without wars!  I also believe that men are ready for this change too, I dont believe that men really enjoy having power over women, I know it happens but its because its been expected of them not because they wanted it.

The feeling being here in Cambodia and Thailand with all the sex trade thats going on it makes your think that these countries have decided to shut down all emotions cause how else would a human being with a heart and feelings survive!

My passion is to raise awareness for both men and women that if we could only realize that by becoming consciousness of our own conditioning we can all climb out of this poverty and misery and that "happiness" is not only for a few but for everyone and that once and for all we can come out of hiding from our feelings and emotions and become human again!

Ten Countries and ten different Charities

Perspective - The Big Picture       (taken from Morgans site)

Take the recent Japan Earthquake, disasters of such scale help put our day to day problems and challenges in prospective.  In comparison to a true crisis, the mundane issues that we sometimes obsess or argue over fade to zero.  While larger problems that seemed impassable a week ago begin to appear more accessible.

There is little we can do in such awesome forces of nature, other than be prepared, endure and rebuild.

By Comparison, even the largest, most intractable man-made problems suddenly seem solvable if we put our imagination, resources and our collective will to doing so. From environmental crisis like pollution and deforestation, to poverty  and inequality, finding solutions to man-made issues should ultimately be achievable.

Again its times like this that make us realize that life is short and precious, we reflect on what if and ask ourselves whether we are living true to our values and to our dreams.

In the Saddle and ready to Ride
"what a guy"
hats off to you Morgan, safe travelling.
