Into the box again

We left the hotel with the bike all loaded and went around to Eagle Export office to meet Suraj were he was going to lead us to the cargo department at the airport. After a coffee at the Kathmandu Guest House we left at around 12.30 in a slight drizzle of rain just enough to keep the dust down and arrived at the cargo warehouse 20 mins later.

We arrive at the warehouse
The pallet was already waiting so it was of to work getting the bike stripped down. This is now the second time I have done it but I must admit there is always a certain amount of tension as we always draw a crowd of spectators and there are always people waiting to do their job waiting on us.

Off with the Bags
First we get the bags and boxes off and Chenty repacks what we will be taking on the plane and what goes with the bike. It is nice that we can always fly with just carry on.

Onto the Pallet
Wind shield off , Mirrors of this time and I left the bars set were they are as last time it took a couple of adjustments to get them set back to a comfortable riding position. Then brakes off and wheel out. That is always the hardest bit as I had four guys lift the front end as I pulled the shaft out and removed the wheel then they had to lower the forks on to the pallet.
This time I was asked to let the Tires down a bit too
Strapping it down and doing the other things like battery disconnect and letting the tires down a bit  this time. Then just all the boxes around the bike and also tied them to the pallet.

Packed away nicely
Close the box and make sure everything is secure.

This time we even got foam wrap for some of the shiny things
The pallet base was a little different this time so we made sure that nothing could fall through it
.

Its a wrap
Nail it closed and strap with metal banding Great job guys.
Thats Surai with me and one of the shipping crew. Gee I feel like a giant here in Nepal.

408 Kilo in the box
After the box was weighed I jumped on the scale and weighed in at 111 kilo (244 lbs so thats the same as when I left home) Then Suraj jumped on and weighed in at 70 kilo (154 lbs) that got a few laughs with his crew.
For some reason Chenty refused to weight in!!

No fork trucks here
It is quite amazing to see these little guys pushing this great big box around the floor.

Into the xray and of to Thailand
see you on Monday
It took less then two hours from the time I rode in to seeing it go through the xray not bad I thought.
