It’s too much for us to comprehend that this could have happened to her, a young girl so full of life, its awful being so far away from the family at a time like this.
Megan, Jess and Amie were all the same age and it’s simply not right that her life was cut so short, she had just planned a trip to Jamaica with friends and it’s not fair she won’t get to go on it now.
Trevor’s mom had just flown to England to visit her brother on the day that it happened so instead of phoning her and telling her over the phone, TREV and I decided to park the bike in the Ibis Hotel in Lisbon and fly to England for a few days to be with his mom and brother and be around family for a while. It was the best thing to do for everyone; we were able to be of some comfort to each other even though it was too sad to have to deal with. We were able to talk to the family at home and try and understand and make some sense of what had happened, not that it helps the pain of losing her.
Before we left to go back to Lisbon and continue on our trip we got together with the family in England and lit a beautiful very large paper lantern in memory of Megan and as we watched it fly up towards the night sky we all had tears in our eyes, I said to myself “until we meet again” it just isn’t fair.
There will be a celebration of her life on Sept 20th in Sidney and although TREV and I won’t be there in person we will be there in our hearts and in our spirits.
Megan was a beautiful, gentle, unselfish young woman who had loads of friends and all who knew her loved her. She was always doing some kind of crafts, scrapbooking and loved taking photos and hanging out with her friends, her bro and she were buds, always looking out for each other and he will surely miss her. Our hearts goes out to you Heather Dave and Sam for this terrible loss in your lives and even though that we are here travelling around the world, know that we are with you and share in your pain, we are still having trouble understanding and believing that this has happened, it’s not real for us here?
The only thing that comforts me at the moment is my faith as I believe that a soul never truly leaves us, we are as close as we have always been, so I will find a quiet place as I travel around this world and continue to talk to her wherever I am, I will NEVER forget her.
Namaste
Hello Trevor and ''Chantal'', we are sorry about the bad new you got in Lisbon, where we met at the table of Café Luso on a Saturday.
ReplyDeleteNow, there will be an Angel following and protecting you along your trip.
