Onto visit your daughter in Biarritz! (Henry and Jennifer)
Thanks for the bed Rachel and the fresh coissants and baguette for breaky, i guess I will try Marmite again but the smell puts me off, i like the fact that it is loaded with Vit B’s.
Biarritz was a fun seaside town with lots of surf, it was really rough the day we were there and raining but we managed to see it anyway and have a great fish dinner to boot, the starters were the best! See you in Canada when we get back!
Overall what did we think of France: We loved it, it was fun to try and speak the language, the people were friendly, the history was so interesting, the weather is great now we are in the South, but expensive at least 30% more than home. Beer in Paris was 8 euro but further south 5 euro and fuel was anywhere from 1.24 – 1.44 eruo per litre depending where you were. Coffee is expensive at 4eur each. Only thing I didnt like about the french is all the smokers, i would say 85% of the french smoke!
Our route : Arras, Paris, Amboise,Fontenay-le-Comte lunch in La Rochelle on the coast, over to Sarlat-la-Carreda cool town with homes built in the cliff, Cahors to stay with friends nice town also, Toulouse very busy city, lovely ride thru to Lourdes and over to Biarritz to visit Rachel on the coast, surfers paradise and then onto Spain.
Accomodations: Paris stayed in an Ibis Hotel 89euro/night right down in the city, great spot, had to pay 20 eruo parking for the bike! Amboise nice hotel Bell evue 79e per night right in town good parking for the bike inside a garage. Best accom on route was in Cahors at our friends place!!
