Staying at Rory's Place in JB

Chenty relaxes on the patio at Rorys place

Ronnie had met Rory from Malaysia when he was travelling in Wadi Rum in Jordan over Christmas last year and he agreed to look him up when he got to Malaysia, so thats what he did and it was great because we got to leave our bike in his condo parking lot while we ventured into Singapore with Phil.  We unloaded the bikes went up to his condo and got changed, had a quick drink and then all jumped into Rory’s car and he dropped us off at the border crossing into Singapore.

Rory is quite the guy, he has run a furniture business for many years and still does, he lives in a high rise condo in Malaysia near the border of Singapore in JB, as soon as i walked into his home i felt a sense of calm, it was really nice, he is a gentle man who has lived the life of an entrepreneur, the fast life, having lots of things and now he has come to that part of his life that he wants to simplify,  this is what we all have in common, Ronnie, Trev and I all wanted to simply our lives and have an adventure, live in the moment!  He shared that he had started Vipassana Meditation a couple of years ago and that’s where he learnt to slow down, it is why his energy feels so good, like he has nowhere else to be but right there in that moment with you, nice.  He is a marathon runner too and runs 40km three times a week, hes as fit as hell and put the rest of us to shame but what i most admired about him was his commitment to himself, we could all learn from him on that topic. Thanks Rory for your commitment and i know we will meet again when you come to stay with us on Salt Spring Island, i have lots of places to show you, you will love it.

We stayed in town for another day after Phil left to see if it would be cheaper to fly the bike from Singapore or Malaysia.  we thought we could fly from there and it might likely be cheaper anyway.
But alas it didn't take long to realize shipping out of KL would be the best option so in the morning we got up early got the bus back across the border to Rory's place and planed on riding back to KL

Saying goodbye to Ronnie again

Immediately on arriving back at Rorys place we get our gear together pack the bike and are in the basement saying good by, all the time Rory and Ronnie telling us we should stay one night so we could all go out together, but being focused on  getting the bike to Aus we insist we have to get back to KL.
We had been hanging out with Ronnie for over 5 weeks at this point and it was going to be hard to say goodbye, we all knew that.  We put on our jackets and just before our helmets could hide our faces we thanked Rory for being such a great help and host and then it was time to say goodbye to Ronnie, i let Trev go first and to my surprise i had no wise last minutes words to say, I had always something to say to Ronnie, but today not,  we just gave each other hugs, and quick on with the helmets before the emotions show up, goodbyes are always the hardest part of the best part of the trip, which is meeting new friends!

One last handshake to both of them before getting on the bikes and all of a sudden the skies opened up, oh shit, when it rains in Malaysia its like one of those really good shower faucets that massage you at the same time so we didn’t want to head out into that.  Rory did his best to talk us into staying for lunch and the night, he is a very good salesmen because after much deliberation we decided to stay one more day with them, crap we just said all our goodbyes and everything, this only makes things harder but I trusted that there must be a reason for all this so gave in.  Right there in the garage we changed into our shorts again and flip flops and thru all of our riding gear in the trunk of Rory's car and he took us all out for lunch, we are all convinced that I made the security guys day that day, having my ass hanging out while i switched clothes in the basement, what the hell, it was hot!

We turn Rory's office in shipping central
as both us and Ronnie review our options to
 move the bikes

The first attempts at getting Ronnie's bike to Indonesia
don't prove to be so promising

The Best Seafood Restaurant in JB

After a nice 4 hour nap for me and the boys all down in Rorys office researching on the computers for the bikes shipping Rory suggests a fun seafood restaurant for dinner!

Some type of Yam stuffed with Chicken and Vedges!!
This is a great locals place set out over the ocean serving the most interesting dishes like Deer Fish and Deer Rabbit etc. very weird, we decided to let Rory order for us.

This fish was swimming when we sat down

Yes Ronnie the fish will have bones in!!

Our new Friend Rory
