Its not hard to get some fun shots on the Mekong River in Laos, we took a 1/2 day boat ride down the river to visit Pak Ou Caves and watch the sunset.
25km by boat from Luang Prabang up the Mekong River, at the mouth of the Nam Ou, are the famous caves at Pak Ou. The two caves in the lower part of a limestone cliff are crammed with a variety of Buddha images, a kind of graveyard where uwanted images are placed. We thought they would be a lot bigger but nonetheless it was a lovely relaxing ride down the river and a interesting visit to the caves.
On the way we stopped of at one of the local villages, Ban Xang Hai, where they make Laos Whiskey, yuk, its like straight alcohol and plus this picture is of a snake or you can get complete with scorpio, which every you prefer!
This old guy was making musical instruments out of bamboo and selling them for $8 US.
Our trusty chariot awaits!
It was hard not to buy some of the many scarfs being sold in the village, so nice and so cheap, most only $2. each, i would have like to send a whole box of them home.
Inside the caves where many, many unwanted Buddhas are put to rest!
