The Ellora Caves

Chenty having a chat with Buddha

We road to Ellora Caves today and checked into a hotel right outside of the Caves, that was great luck as we didnt feel like driving any further.  These caves were carved,  by hand,  in 7th century AD, it is amazing, sitting in front of this huge Buddha, deep inside a cave, I felt so small but large at the same time.  Something that sits with me today is that "wherever you go, there you are" , in other words you don’t have to go anywhere, everywhere that we are is already there!
God maybe Ive already been in India too long, Im starting to sound like my father!!

The guy who checked us into the hotel was asking me what I thought of India so far, I said it was noisey and lots of people, he said, one thing for sure, once you have travelled India you will be wiser and stronger and less afraid. I thought about that and then I thought about being in the Medina in Fes in Morocco and how I had felt so out of sorts there initially, like being immersed in ice cold water, but once i got used to it it was ok.  India is going to be like this i can tell, im still feeling the ice cold water but its getting easier to breath (not literally, theres a still a lot of pollution) day by day.

The Osho handout at the ashram said, “Unless you become a Buddha, you have not lived".  I now know what they mean by this, the miracle of ourselves is available to all of us, i think the biggest flaw of mankind is that we don’t believe we are entitled to become buddhas ourselves, each and every one of us.

Sitting in front of such a huge stone Buddha,  in such an old place, looking up at it with the sunlight streaming into the cave, it was so angelic, simple and calm, in all the caous of India I had found a quiet spot.

These caves were incredible
