Karnark

This obelisk sits with its partner at the site of Karnak, its said that the Queen sat one night and heard the gods tell her to build two identical obelisk of gold, she couldnt do that but was determined to build two of granite from single pieces of stone, pretty impressive.

We decided to go see the Sound and Light Show at karnak, expensive but pretty good, its much nicer walking around the temples with relaxing music and a great voice over the loud speaker telling you about the story thru time.

Unlike the Valley of the Kings and the other burial grounds on the West of the Nile which was all for tombs and offerings for the afterlife, Karnark was all about prosperity and wealth and for 2000 years each king tried to outdo the other, not really respecting the previous one.  We saw pictures of this place before they fixed it all up wow what a lot of work but its very nice now.

I loved these rams heads with all the queens standing below them, they looked very wise.
