Pumakkale

What a neat place, we left Marmaris with the sun shining, not for long though, rainy skies again! Had to head for Pumakkale as we remember Jess had taken a picture here when she was here a number of years ago and it looked so cool.
A 3 hour ride on pretty rough roads to Pumakkale, these are mineral pools (no not snow) that in their day (the Roman Empire Period) were an absolute health centre, thousands of people used to come to bathe there and find their remedy in the waters. The temp is 36 deg the PH is 5.8 and radon value is 1480 piccocuri/liter. It is said that to soak in the waters will help with your rheumatism, diseases of the eyes, derma, heart and blood circulatory, respiratory, nerve and muscles, kidney, urinary and post operation diseases. Thermal water has 2430mg liter solution mineral value, so I guess that means its good for you?
You are allowed to swim in the Ancient Pool created by the earthquake of VII century AD, it is very eiry as the water is so clear that you can see ancient ruins of marble column pieces etc. just sitting on the bottom of the pool. Also you can walk into the ponds, as Trev did, as long as you take off your shoes, no shoes allowed.
