Zahara a white washed village in the Andalucias Mountains

We actually went to Zahara after Seville then down to Tarifa, oops!

This sleepy little town has not been the same since Rick Steves mentioned it is his Guide to Europe book, we meet many people carrying his book in this town.

Still, all the same it is an amazing place to see and ride into it, it sits on top of a hill and you gently climb into the heart of the village where the turns and twists getting more and more challenging as you go up, especially on the bike when its loaded with gear!

This is in the Arcos De Le Frontera and the Route of the White Villages, these are small towns with white houses only in them spread out across this region but all very close together so you can drive from one to the other in about a day, there are five or more villages in all. Andalucia is a lovely natural forest area also so well worth the visit especially when you want to escape the hectic busy cities of Spain for a while.

We spent the evening watching the local people head off to church and then come out and all the socializing that goes on after. The smoking and eating at the local cafes etc. it was a great place to people watch the spanish culture.

We stayed in the hostel there for $50 euro a night
next time i would stay in the 2 star hotel at the top of the street as i dont think it was much more but a lot nicer.
