Prehistoric Ireland

Here we see Chenty checking out a potential place to stay.
All over Ireland there are the remains of prehistoric forts and dwellings. These here are on private land and are maintained by the farmers who charge a fee for visiting. The history in these stone building is amazing and trying to imagine what life was like then leave you thinking of harsh times. Winters on this Atlantic coast would be harsh today but back then living in a structure like this would havekilled most of us today.

This is what is called a Bee Hive Hut, The stone walls are about two feet thick at the bottom this one was about ten feet in diameter on the inside The one thing is, there would have been no shortage of building materials.
