One of my pet peaves is that Trev always seems to park in the No Parking spots? |
Geared up and ready to head for the shipper to crate the bike, finally! |
After a lot of emails and phone calls we decide on a shipping agent
Not a bad place to hangout and do the research but I wouldnt want to book in here for a holiday, its in the middle of nowhere?
A short ride to the airport |
The bike gets its cleanup before being crated for Australia, the Australians are fanatical about "No Dirt" allowed on the bikes coming into their country.
Make sure you get the dirt from India off as well |
Chenty gets to supervise |
We find the warehouse where the crate should be waiting |
Ok we're ready now where is the crate? |
I must say that nobody wastes anything around here All this wood was recycled from crates they had received |
We arrive at the packing warehouse and no one seems to know about us, all this wood but no crate - yet!
Once on the pallet I can remove the front wheel |
Within minutes, Mrs Yep of Clasquin Freight turns up who is our chosen shipper and everything starts to take shape, the crate gets built onsite, Trev starts to dismantle the bike and now its all happening.
In less than one hour it's all done |
The shipper makes big Red secure to the base |
Before we know it its all done and it turns out to be the best packing job yet! The bike being wrapped several times around with bubble wrap, now that hadnt happened before!! Thankyou again guys for the great job oh and lunch too!
Team work It makes all the difference |
To much room to waste it That cost me more!! |
Ok so they made it a little too big, Trev thought for a moment on saving an airfare and told me to climb in.
Crate number 4, in the box and ready for Aus. This is always a nice feeling and I for one was ready for Aus myself, time for some English speaking people and clean fresh air with cooler temperatures.
The details
We spent three days getting five prices in and they ranged from $2025.00 to $3800.00
All prices were including the box and the ever important FUMIGATION for Aus. Now something I didn't realize was that the bike was not the thing getting fumigated!! it was the crate because it was made of wood.
The finial price after it was boxed was RM7100.00 or $2301.27 There was a increase in the quoted price as the box was made to big so I felt they should have gone easier on me for that.
So the price went up because the chargeable weight increased due to the larger box. I put that down to "Shit Happens" so as not to stress me out (that is something I have learnt on this trip)
The Shipper. (recommended by me)

Just a side note. I have since spoken to some one that just had their bike shipped the same route and did it them selfs direct with MAS Cargo, so maybe next time that is something to look at.
