Kasbah Tombouctou

Wow, I can hardly believe that this is me on my bike in the Sahara desert, can you believe it!

Wheres Charley????? I love these photos.
This for me is the adventure of a lifetime

So we also wanted to ride into the Sahara Desert and ride a camel. We had been told about this Kasbah called Tombouctou named after the famous place where the camel trains set out across the desert to trade for gold and spices . A very nice hotel that organized trips over night with a place to stay complete with food and bedding.

We had been told by one guy that he could take us for $200 US a night each, then we went to the tourism place in town, after being stopped and told that this guy was a rip off, and they said you should be able to get it for $35. each a night - what a difference, needless to say we didnt go with the first guy.

The ride out into the desert was an amazing site to see, one long road, straight and hot!
37 degrees, you could see the heat haze coming off the sand.
The thought of anything trying to survive in this environment is unthinkable.

Once we found the sign to our Kasbah we head off on a two km gravel road that leads us to the place where we will spend two days in the desert. We ride around to the back of the hotel and spot the camels, how cool is that, we stopped for a few pictures and then on our exit we get into a little too deep of sand and down we go - shit! 45,000km and it was bound to happen! Nothing broken, only a small bruise on chentys hip and my pride. Getting the bike back on two wheels, required unloading some bags and two other guys showed up to help.
So the Adventure continues!!!

You'll see I didnt take a picture of the tears on Trevs face!! oops.
